abstract
we consider a capacity allocation model motivated by health care service system serving customers from several locations. there is a service station at each location, which can serve dedicated customers as well as customers from other locations. traveling cost will be incurred if a customer from a location switches to another location to attain service. we study the optimal capacity allocation policy that minimizes the total cost of waiting and traveling.
biography
hengqing ye received the phd degree from the hong kong university of science and technology in 2000. he is an associate professor with the faculty of business, hong kong polytechnic university. prior to joining polyu, he had been an assistant/associate professor with the school of business, national university of singapore during 2000-2007. his research interests include the modelling and analysis of stochastic network models, health care management and supply chain management. he has published research papers in academic journals such as ieee transactions in automatic control, queueing systems, and operations research.
